Free Family Fishing Day - 06/08/10

Friday 6th August 2010
10am - 12noon and 1pm - 3pm
Thornhill - Dumlanrig Castle Fishings - Middle Beat

Have you always wanted to have a go at fishing but not known how to start? Would you like to give your kids a chance to fish on a safe river bank under the guidance of qualified instructors? Or are you just looking for something to do with the kids over the holidays? Well now is your chance to give it a go and all for free!

As part of the Fishing for Knowledge project, Solway Heritage is coordinating a Family Fishing Day to allow adults and children to have a go at fishing. Everyone will have the chance to try their hand at river dipping to see what lives in the river, practise casting with rods on the riverbank and finally try some fishing.

The day will be held on the River Nith at Thornhill on Friday 6th August. Sessions will be held from 10am until 12noon and then in the afternoon from 1pm until 3pm under the guidance of fully qualified instructors from Borderlines and staff from the Nith District Salmon Fishery Board. Access to the river is by kind permission of Buccleuch Estates.

If you would like to book onto one of the fishing sessions or would like more information about the events please contact Clair McFarlan or Catriona Fitzsimon at Solway Heritage on 01387 247543 or email  bookings@solwayheritage.co.uk.

Please note that although the sessions are all free booking is essential.
