GCF 2011 Casting Competition Results

The 2011 Galloway Country Fair Fishing & Casting Competitions proved to be a great success with fishing vouchers worth over £1,000 handed out to the winners as detailed below.  Congratulations to all of the winners who received their trophies and prizes during the weekend presentations.

A special mention goes to James Hek (15yrs) from Troon in Scotland, who won 10 of the 12 youth/men classes.  James learnt to fish when he was just 3yrs, taught the basic by his father he now fishes local rivers with Dreghorn and Troon Angling Clubs with much success entering competitions around the country from local to Scone and the CLA.  For such a young man he has an impressive record and told us he has ambitions of working in the fishing industry teaching kids to cast and getting them out onto the water to catch fish.  Roy Green, Sporting Manager and Rab Kerr, River Manager met with James at Drumlanrig Castle the morning of his prize fishing trip to capture his 10 wins at the Galloway Country Fair Casting Competitions 2011.

“The Galloway Country Fair was a great fair as it had everything there from mountain biking, axe throwing, digger driving, and catching fish to learning about their feeding habits.  The prizes are great as it gives me a chance to put the casting into practice at Drumlanrig Castle on both river and lochs.  Also it was one of the hardest trout accuracy competitions I have ever entered and I was glad to win it, especially on Sunday against the adults.  I look forward to visiting the Galloway Country Fair next year.”   James Hek (Casting Winner GCF2011)
